Privacy notice
Short version: we collect very little, we don't sell any of it, and when online ordering opens it will run on Cook to Counter under their privacy policy.

What this site collects
Contact form
When you send a message we keep your name, email address, topic and message so we can reply. We also record the time, your IP address and browser type to stop spam and abuse. Messages are emailed to our monitored inbox and stored in a private log on our server. We keep them for up to 12 months, then delete them.
Outbound click counts
When you click a Shop the Soup button or a referral link (for example bigballssoup.com/r/soupdaddy), we record that a click happened, when, which button or code, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address for the same day. We use this to count clicks and see which links work. We do not record what you buy. Cook to Counter processes your order under its own privacy policy.
Server logs
Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and troubleshooting.
What we do not do
- No advertising trackers, no analytics scripts from third parties, no cookies for tracking you across sites. Two third-party scripts run on this site: Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form (checks that you are not a bot; Google's privacy policy and terms apply) and Instagram's post embeds on the homepage, which load from Instagram only when you scroll to that section and are covered by Meta's privacy policy.
- No selling or renting your information.
- Referral links set a cookie only so your referral is remembered for 30 days. It stores the referral code and nothing else.
Marketing email
If you sign up for news from us, marketing emails may include an open pixel and tracked links. These tell us if an email was opened or a link was clicked. Opens are directional only: many mail apps block or pre-load images, so we treat open counts as rough. We never put tracking in replies to your messages or in order-related email.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops marketing mail immediately. You can also email hello@bigballssoup.com with "unsubscribe" and we'll take care of it.
Cook to Counter
When online ordering is available, purchases, payment, pickup and delivery are handled by Cook to Counter. When you leave this site to order, their privacy policy applies to the information you give them. Until ordering opens, Shop buttons stay on this site and we only record the click.
Your choices
- Ask what we have about you, or ask us to delete it: email hello@bigballssoup.com.
- Block images in your email app to prevent open tracking.
- Clear your cookies to remove a referral cookie early.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. The contact log is stored on our server behind a password and is not public.
Changes
If this notice changes, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes to marketing email practices will be announced in the next email we send.
